"Farzi" is an Indian Hindi-language black comedy crime thriller television series that revolves around a disillusioned artist who delves into the world of counterfeit money. Created, produced, and directed by Raj & DK, the series also features their co-written work alongside Sita Menon and Suman Kumar. The star-studded cast includes Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, Raashii Khanna, and Bhuvan Arora.
Originally conceived as a film in 2014, "Farzi" evolved into a television series by 2019. Principal photography commenced in Mumbai in July 2021, with additional filming in Alibaug, Goa, Nepal, and Jordan. The series features a captivating soundtrack composed by Sachin-Jigar and Tanishk Bagchi, with the score provided by Ketan Sodha. Notably, "Farzi" shares continuity with Raj & DK's acclaimed spy series, "The Family Man."
The gripping eight-episode series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 10 February 2023. "Farzi" garnered positive reviews and quickly became the most-watched Indian streaming series. By the end of February 2023, Shahid Kapoor confirmed the show's renewal for a second season, generating excitement among viewers.

Sunny, a struggling artist, assists his grandfather Madhav in running an idealistic printing press with his best friend Firoz. Their business faces the threat of bankruptcy, leading Sunny and Firoz to consider printing counterfeit 500-rupee notes. After a failed attempt, their second try proves successful. Meanwhile, a determined officer named Michael captures the counterfeiting kingpin Mansoor Dalal in Nepal, but Mansoor manages to escape and later kidnaps Sunny and Firoz.
Episode 2:
In a flashback, a young Sunny is abandoned by his father and meets Firoz, another abandoned boy, at a train station. They form a bond, and Sunny's maternal grandfather Madhav adopts both of them. In the present day, Sunny and Firoz successfully pay off their grandfather's debts. Meanwhile, Megha, an idealistic officer from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), comes across one of Sunny's fake notes but faces skepticism from her superior. Michael blackmails Minister Pawan Gahlot to establish a task force to investigate counterfeit money.
Episode 3:
Michael creates the Counterfeiting and Currency Fraud Analysis and Research Team (CCFART) with the help of Gahlot. He has a troubled relationship with his ex-wife Rekha and his son. Dissatisfied with her job at the RBI, Megha joins Michael's team. However, she lands in trouble when she defies Michael to investigate the "artist" whose fake note she discovered, nearly exposing their operation. Meanwhile, Sunny and Firoz are hired to print fake money for a politician and end up personally delivering a shipment worth ₹20 crores to Surat.
Episode 4:
Rekha serves Michael with divorce papers. Megha's fake note scanner, Dhanrakshak, is launched by Gahlot, who believes that the media attention will help him win the election. Meanwhile, Madhav's health deteriorates due to dementia. Mansoor becomes worried after the arrests caused by Dhanrakshak. Impressed by Sunny's skills (as Dhanrakshak cannot detect his notes), Mansoor kidnaps him and Firoz, offering Sunny a job in his criminal organization.
Episode 5:
Sunny agrees to work for Mansoor and creates a fake 2000-rupee note in his lab in Jordan. Mansoor arranges for Madhav's surgery, paying for it. In Bangladesh, Michael and his team capture Mansoor's henchman, Bilal, who eventually becomes an informant after being threatened. Back in Mumbai, Sunny is tasked by Mansoor to infiltrate CCFART. He arranges a meeting with Megha and successfully hacks into her phone.
Episode 6:
Sunny spies on CCFART's plans through
Megha's phone. Michael receives information from Bilal and another mole within Mansoor's organization. The two groups engage in a cat and mouse game, and Mansoor proposes a "Trojan Horse" plan to smuggle ₹12,000 crores in counterfeit notes into India. With the assistance of a Russian boat crew, Sunny manages to deceive Michael, successfully smuggling the cash.
Episode 7:
Sunny and Firoz enjoy their newfound wealth and move into luxurious apartments. Sunny finds himself developing feelings for Megha and removes the tracker from her phone. Megha discovers that the "artist" leaves his signature ('S') on the fake notes. Mansoor becomes desperate to introduce the counterfeit cash into the market and urges Sunny to act swiftly. Michael devises a plan to lure out the "artist."
Episode 8:
Sunny and Firoz come close to being caught, but Michael catches a glimpse of their faces. During a chase to escape the police, Sunny and Firoz scatter the fake cash on the streets. Unhappy with their actions, Mansoor orders their execution, but Sunny seeks help from his friends to escape. Mansoor sets fire to Madhav's printing press, leading Sunny to go on a rampage, killing several of Mansoor's men and setting fire to the cash, promising Mansoor that he will return for more. Meanwhile, Michael and Rekha finalize their divorce, and Megha is on the brink of uncovering Sunny's true identity.
